Yavor & Mey's "Illuminate"

Posted by

Yavor and Mey - IlluminateI first heard Yavor & Mey's song "Illuminate" when Yavor emailed me and asked me to listen to it because he wanted me to master it for him. When I heard it, I was immediately impressed with the production value of the track as well as the performances of the vocalists. I instantly liked the song, especially it's groove and sparseness... it just has sex appeal. I can very easily hear this song in a film (such as a montage scene or love scene) as well as in a TV commercial for any type of product where "setting the night on love" is the main theme. They've done a great job capturing a moment between a couple, encapsulated in a song, so well done! The layers of vocals, to me are one of the best thing about the song. Mey's vocals are a perfect fit and complement to Yavor's.

Do yourself a favor and check out this song as well as his others. Here is the official Yavor website.

Yavor's Bio:

Yavor’s music blends chic textures into a unique fashion of sound.

Born in Burgas, Bulgaria, Yavor Velchev (Yavor) came into the music scene at the age of five and won the competition for children song Sladkopoina Chuchuliga. His first solo was released on a vinyl by the Bulgarian record company Balkanton.

At the age of eight Yavor started taking lessons in classic guitar and became the guitarist of a rock band named “Pearl”. Later on Yavor took leading roles in musicals such as the Jesus Christ Superstar Rock Opera, Les Miserables, Hair, Westside Story, etc.

At the age of sixteen Yavor’s founded the acapella group “Jazzabell” which won the Special Viewers’ prize at the International Festival for Bulgarian Pop Music - The Golden Orpheus.

In 1999 – 2003 Yavor was the singer of the funk soul band “Kaffe”, which in 2005 represented Bulgaria at Eurovision with their new singer.
