Synch Song of the Week: MSC’s Halloween Playlist

Posted by

Happy belated Halloween!! Our sync song of the week presented a challenge for us this week as we intended to feature a song from our Halloween playlist, and spent a week trying to decide precisely which track.

What we’ve decided on, and since it’s so late, is to re-plug the playlist in its entirety! Partly because when we originally debuted, we rolled its launch into our Sync Song post and we don’t think it received the proper introduction it deserved, and partly because it’s SO awesome that we couldn’t just pick one track.

As we mentioned in our original post, “Our playlist is an attempt at a Halloween playlist you probably won’t find anywhere else. We were inspired by the gorgeous and slightly mischievous music supervision from shows like HBO’s “True Blood,” Netflix’s “Hemlock Grove,” “Teen Wolf,” “The Vampire Diaries,” Disney’s “Wolfblood,” and all the others along the same vein.

These soundtracks are interesting because unlike scores for, say, Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful,” these dramas are set in contemporary settings. Yet they all have the common denominator of anachronism. By nature, these narratives are partially based on fantastical legend, but take place today.

So when sourcing music the search can be challenging in that each piece must be timeless (relevant today, but still feel in-tune with the plot’s characterization—think “What would a 100-year old vampire in a 24 year-old’s body listen to today?”).

The playlist is available on Spotify and is worth listening to for many months to come! If there are any tracks you think we should add, let us know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
